Sunday, June 4, 2000 SECOND MIGRANT ESCAPE FROM FORMER
MAXIMUM-SECURITY PRISON
(Randene Neill) - A
helicopter is flying over Prince George Sunday trying to detect
any sign of the missing Chinese migrants. They've been gone for
almost 24 hours now, and there's still no sign of the seven men.
This is the second migrant escape from the Prince George Regional
Correction Centre, which used to be a maximum-security prison.
Their escape is timely: there's word the seven migrants, along
with dozens more, are scheduled to be deported Monday. Corrections
officials promise to begin a full investigation tomorrow, but
security at the prison has already been
tightened. |
