Detained migrants escape from B.C. jail
WebPosted Sat Jun 3 23:36:23 2000

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. - Police in British Columbia used dogs and helicopters Saturday night to try to track down seven illegal migrants who escaped from a local detention centre.

The men were among the hundreds of Chinese citizens caught trying to sneak into Canada on smugglers' boats last year.

Police said they escaped from the Prince George Regional Correctional Centre in the afternoon.

Investigators haven't said how the men managed to get free. Just over two weeks ago, another illegal migrant broke out of the same facility. He was captured a few hours later.
