Migrants arrive in Gold River
WebPosted Aug 31 1999 5:40 PM PDT

VANCOUVER - The HMCA Algonquin arrived in the harbour at Gold River this afternoon. On board are almost 200 people who were transferred from the latest migrant ship seized off the B.C. coast.

The migrants will now be boarded onto busses and taken the CFB Esquimalt. Most of the passengers are men but there are also some women and several juveniles.

The rusty hulk was spotted yesterday after the northern tip of Vancouver Island. It spent 72 days at sea crossing the Pacific in the wake of two earlier vessels which brought 250 other Chinese migrants to B.C.
